Inspiración
Mexico was a great source of inspiration for my drawings and other craftsy outbursts. Especially the tile patterns, stray dogs, bright colours, and Lotería cards triggered my creativity, but also protest posters and my frustration about the macho culture.
Some of my projects, plus some of the tiles I was collecting.
On the 21st of October I broke my leg playing rugby against some very little Mexican girls. I walked (and, eventually, clubbed) with crutches for six weeks and had to stay home during the autumn break. While my friends were travelling the country I collaged this dog on my bedroom wall, to keep me company so to say.
My exchange university, Tec de Monterrey, offered a broad range of cultural classes open for exchange and high school students. I took a batik course, which was great fun. (A young girl from our class invited me and my friend to her quinceañera, a massive traditional 15th birthday party.) My first work was inspired on tarot and lotería cards. The second one are T-shirt patches, a project about reclaiming curse words.
